Sascha Leufgen
Sascha Leufgen wurde im Juli 1973 in Prüm geboren und erhielt seinen ersten Klarinettenunterricht an der Kreismusikschule Bitburg-Prüm bei Herrn Thomas Rippinger im Alter von 9 Jahren.Anschließend erhielt Sascha Leufgen einige Jahre Unterricht bei Adolf Heinel (Stadttheater Trier),sowie Karl Heinz Steffens (z.Zt.Soloklarinetist der Berliner Philhamoniker).

Our conductor & musician Marc Meyers

Marc Meyers

Born in November 1973, Marc MEYERS discovers his passion for music at the age of 6. His first steps in musical theory and piano lead him straight away to the instrument that clearly marks his further career - the slide trombone. After 5 years of studies at the school of music of Dudelange, in the trombone class of his father Mr. René MEYERS, Marc consecutively obtains, with distinction, a first price in musical theory as well as a first price and the "prix de capacité" in trombone.

John was born in September 1943, and joined the HMD in 1955 as a clarinet player. Later, he studied the bassoon at the national music academy Metz (France) where he obtained a first price and the "Prix d'Excellence" in bassoon as well as a first price in chamber music. As assistant conductor, he was one of the founders of the first youth band in 1969. Furthermore, John was hired as temporary help on a more or less regular basis by the RTL symphony orchestra (today's Philharmonic Orchestra of Luxembourg, OPL). Moreover, he taught musical theory and bassoon at the school of music of Dudelange. Many of the current members of the HMD, including Marc Meyers, laid the foundations for their musical career in his solfeggio classes. Today, John is enjoying two things: retirement and playing difficult stuff.
